This wine has three red grape varieties. Rufetes and old Tempranillos from the vineyard "La Mata de France" at 700m over the sea level and the Calabres variety planted in "El Pocito" (at 800m over the sea level) in 2002. Both are granitic soils, although the Pocito has much quartz. In both cases the vineyards are terraced and with a planting framework of 1,5m x 1,5m. ORGANIC FARMING.
Vintage is made using 10 kg capacity boxes and with the first selection of grapes is done at the vineyard. Destemming grape by grape in the selection table (handmade process). Fermentation in steel tanks with autochthonous yeasts. Movements of must and wine only by gravity. Malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. Aged in 300 liters French oak barrels during 12 months.
In 2013, thanks to a dry end of Spring and a Summer in which there were only a few storms, the vines remained very healthy. July was very hot but the first three weeks of August were fresh, so the grapes ripened slowly keeping good acidity. At the end of August a heat wave made us anticipate the harvest, thanks to that we were safe of the heavy rains in mid-September. Under these conditions the grapes ripened maintaining good acidity that is perceived in a very nice way thanks to the flavor of red fruits that brings Rufete grapes. Tempranillo also gives structure, flavor of ripe fruit and the Calabrian, despite its small portion, gives a touch of scent of roses.
